Academic & Immigration Advising

Intensive English Program

Academic Advising

Intensive English Program students are assigned a primary adviser who provides guidance and support throughout their studies. Primary advisers can help students choose elective courses. They help students access services on campus. Primary advisers provide assistance with applying to universities and graduate schools. They also check-in with students about their attendance and academic progress.

Immigration Advising

The immigration adviser provides students with information about how to maintain their F-1 nonimmigrant visa status. The immigration adviser answers questions related to program extensions, transferring in or out of the program, term exemptions (when students want to take a session off), reduced course loads, and early authorized withdrawals. The immigration adviser provides workshops and meets with students one-on-one to ensure that they understand all expectations, requirements, and regulations. The adviser also helps to facilitate the transition between the Intensive English Program and the University of Colorado Boulder for those students who intend to matriculate to a degree program.
