Legal English

8-week Intensive Program for International Students and Practicing International Lawyers

The Legal English Program (LEP) is designed for international students who plan on attending law school in the U.S. as well as practicing international lawyers seeking to refine their English language skills. This is an 8-week intensive program, which meets 20-24 hours per week. Students on an F-1 or J-1 visa take the full program, while part-time and current degree students can enroll in individual courses. (Individual courses meet 4-6 hours per week.) Classes are offered in Writing & Rhetoric, Legal Oral Communication Skills, Understanding Legal Texts, Law School Prep (for CU Law conditionally admitted students), and Micro-courses that target structure and grammar, pronunciation, and presentation skills. Students have the opportunity to attend CU Law School events, lectures, and activities.
Students who are not conditionally admitted to the CU Law School must have a minimum high-intermediate English proficiency level before registering for this program.
