Intensive Test Preparation

For English language students applying to undergraduate and graduate degree programs

Program Overview

The IEC offers a full-time intensive test preparation program designed for English language students who are applying to undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Courses meet 20 hours per week. Students can enroll in courses which target the TOEFL and IELTS, or GRE and GMAT. It is strongly recommended that students have a minimum of intermediate to high intermediate level English proficiency before registering for this program. New students take an English language placement test to assess their proficiency level. All students work with an academic advisor who can assist with the university and graduate school application process.

Intensive TOEFL and IELTS Preparation

Intensive TOEFL and IELTS Preparation focuses on language development and test-taking strategies. Students build their English language skills through courses that focus on writing and reading, listening and speaking, academic vocabulary, and grammar. Test-taking skills and sample exams are integrated throughout each course. Students gain practice in time management, decoding test directions and questions, and techniques for responding. Students also develop a test preparation plan, which allows them to track their progress and areas for improvement.
